During transit to Australia, the MV Olympius sustained significant damage to its outer hull, resulting in a large breach that compromised watertight integrity. The vessel required immediate assessment and structural repair under strict classification and safety standards to enable continued operation. Rapid turnaround and coordination with marine surveyors were critical to minimise downtime and port costs.
KAW Engineering mobilised a dedicated marine fabrication crew to inspect and assess the damaged area upon arrival. Temporary containment and dewatering were completed before precision cutting, plate preparation, and full-penetration welding of new hull sections.
All repairs were executed in compliance with class requirements, with NDT and ultrasonic testing conducted to verify weld quality. Coordination with marine surveyors and port authorities ensured all approvals were secured before recommissioning.
The MV Olympius returned to service safely and on schedule, with all structural repairs meeting classification and safety compliance standards.
KAW Engineering’s rapid mobilisation, technical expertise, and stringent quality control minimised operational disruption and demonstrated our capability in complex marine hull repairs across Australian waters.
